Year 4 Playground Buddies Scheme
At Potton Lower School we have an exciting scheme for our Year 4 children called ‘Playground Buddies’, this has been successfully used in our school for many years.
Playground Buddies are Year 4 children selected to help, support and organise games for younger children at lunchtimes. The children need to make an application to Mr Hodgson as to why they feel they would make a good Buddy. If selected, each child will be a Buddy for a half term across the academic year.
Buddies need to be responsible, friendly, kind and helpful individuals that other children in school can go to for help and support if needed. The younger children look to our Year 4 pupils as role models, and it also gives our younger pupils something to aspire to when they reach Year 4.
Buddies can work towards earning their Playground Buddy Badges. There are three different badges to collect:
Each week a member of staff from each area where the Buddies support, will select one child who has shown our school value. They then get to pick a badge, hopefully each Buddy will earn all three badges by the end of the academic year.
This scheme makes lunch times more enjoyable for the whole school.
