Year 3 – Queens Park Faith Tour
Queen’s Park Faith Tour
The children in Year Three have been studying different places of worship in RE. In order to support and enhance their learning we are planning an RE visit which will focus on three faith communities and their places of worship in Queens Park, Bedford.
The trip will take place on Wednesday 22nd April 2020. The children will be leaving at 9:00am and will be back in time ready for dismissal. In order for this trip to go ahead, we are asking for a voluntary donation of £5 per pupil to help us support the cost.
The pupils will spend time at All Saint’s Parish Church, Jamia Masjid Gulshane Bagdhad Mosque and Guru Nanak Gurdwara. At each place of worship the children will be given the opportunity to explore the different places of worship and ask any questions they might have. At each place of worship they will be greeted by a member of that faith community who will deliver a short presentation to the children. To show respect to the different faith communities, children will need to bring a strictly vegetarian (no meat, fish or eggs) packed lunch, and a headscarf (this cannot be a baseball cap).
At Potton Lower School we have been delivering this trip for many years, and it is a great opportunity for the children to explore the different places of worship. However, if any parents are concerned Mr Hodgson (RE Coordinator) will be available to answer any questions you may have, please contact him
Alternatively, the faith community have a wonderful website that may answer your questions: http://www.faithinqueenspark.org.uk/
This is an optional trip for the children to attend. Any children who do not attend will be completing other RE learning.
